Hi, I’m Winston…

Ever since I was 6 years old I have dreamed about becoming a professional football player.
In my dream…
I can hear the crowd going wild when we come out of the tunnel…
I can hear the crash of the helmets…
I throw a deep ball into the receiver’s outstretched hands for a touchdown to win the game…
You should see our touchdown celebration…definitely one for the highlight reel. To step onto the turf and make my living as a professional football player would be a dream come true.
When I was ten years old, I used my money (by going door-to-door buying people’s recycling) to hire a personal trainer to improve my running technique and to increase my speed and strength for football. Now this year, on the recommendation from my interview with Angus Reid, I also have a quarterback coach to improve my throwing technique.
I started recording podcasts not only to learn what it takes to become a success in the sport, but also to teach other kids and adults that no matter your age, how big or small you are, whether you are a boy or girl, you can do anything… as long as you love it and work hard.
I want to thank the players that gave me their time when they were so busy, the people that believed in me enough to introduce me to these players, and the people that supported me and never questioned why I was doing a podcast or that I was too young.
I want to send a special thanks to three people…
- Khari Jones, (shown with me above) for being the first person I interviewed; for not just giving me your time but treating me with respect; for seeing me as more than just a 10-year old kid.
- Angus Reid, for the great interview, the relationship that has developed and the example you have set for me to want to become a better person.
- my dad for encouraging me and pushing me along this path. You have taught me to appreciate in-depth, serious conversation and to learn that these players, heroes that they are to me, are real people.
Thank you for being examples of the man I want to become, one day.
I hope you enjoy my interviews as much as I do!
